Tuesday and Wednesday's Champions League Football
| |
| Tuesday's Champions League football |
The first Champions League fixtures of November kick off on
Tuesday night, and there are some exciting betting opportunities
available!
On Tuesday night, we start with Liverpool v Besiktas at Anfield
(live on ITV1, k/o 7:45pm). Liverpool’s European campaign
has not gone as smoothly as previous seasons, as the 2005 Champions
find themselves bottom of Group A and with only 1 point so far,
they face a real struggle to qualify for the knockout stages of
the competition. Having just lost to Besiktas in the previous
game, you can bet that Rafa’s men will be desperate to beat
the Turkish Champions. With Better
pricing Liverpool as favourites at 2/7, expect Liverpool to fight
hard for all 3 points.
Also on Tuesday night, Chelsea take on Schalke at the Veltins-Arena
(live on ITV4, k/o 7:45pm). Chelsea have been in great form in
this year’s Champions League, topping Group B with 7 points
out of 3 games, including beating Spanish giants Valencia in the
competition. The bookmakers have priced Chelsea as favourites
for this match at 6/5 (VC Bet), obviously based upon their impressive
European form. Centrebet
have priced Schalke at 5/2 to get the win, and with quality players
such as Kuranyi and Rafinha, expect Schalke to be formidable opponents.
VC Bet are also offering Enhanced Doubles for both the Liverpool
and Chelsea games, such as 8/1 for Gerrard and Lampard to score
at anytime during the match and 60/1 that both Chelsea and Liverpool
win 2-0.
BGbet
are offering to refund all losing first goalscorer bets on both
Liverpool v Besiktas and Schalke v Chelsea if Gerrard or Shevchenko
scores at anytime in their respective matches.
Elsewhere, Celtic take on Benfica at Celtic Park in what promises
to be a fiercely contested match. Gordon Strachan’s team
find themselves bottom of a very tough Group D. Having beaten
reigning champions Milan earlier in the competition and with 3
points separating them from top spot, Celtic will get closer to
qualification by beating Benfica tonight. As such the odds for
this match favour Celtic to win, with Better
offering 1/10; it looks likely that the green side of Glasgow
will be singing come Tuesday night!

| Wednesday's Champions League Football |
| Wednesday sees the other British teams play, starting with
Man Utd hosting Dinamo Kiev at Old Trafford (live on Sky Sports
2, k/o 7:45pm).
So far this campaign, Man Utd have been in great form, winning
all 3 of their games against spirited opposition such as Roma
and Sporting Lisbon. D. Kiev’s form couldn’t contrast
more; as they have lost all 3 of their games, another defeat would
seal their fate in the competition, with even UEFA Cup football
beyond them. Man Utd have been priced as strong favourites for
this match, with Centrebet
pricing them at 1/6 for the win. D. Kiev role as underdogs is
reflected in the odds given by bookies, with VC Bet pricing them
at 12/1 for the win, don’t expect a Ukrainian miracle.
Arsenal face Slavia Prague at the Stadion Evena Rošického
in Prague (live Sky One, k/o 7:45pm). Arsenal have been able to
maintain their sizzling domestic form in Europe, coming on the
back of the 7-0 destruction of Slavia Prague, with man of the
moment Fabregas getting on the scoresheet twice to become the
top goalscorer in the competition. Czech champions Slavia will
be fired up to avenge their humiliation in London, and although
it wasn’t demonstrated in the first leg, Slavia have the
quality to put in a more resilient performance. As a result of
the first-leg scoreline, Arsenal have been priced as favourites
for this match at 1/2 (Better),
with Slavia priced at 13/2, the bookmakers expect Arsenal to win
comfortably.
BGbet
are offering to refund all losing first goalscorer bets on both
Man Utd v D. Kiev and Slavia Prague v Arsenal if Nani or Fabregas
scores at anytime in their respective matches.
The last of the British contingent to play this matchday is possibly
the most exciting, as Rangers face Barcelona at the Camp Nou (live
Sky Sports Extra, k/o 7:45pm). After the surprise draw at Ibrox,
Rangers will go into this match full of confidence that they can
keep the likes of Ronaldinho and Henry at bay. Barcelona will
be desperate to put on a real show to their home fans; thus Rangers
face a tough task to emulate the first leg scoreline. VC Bet have
priced Barcelona as strong favourites at 1/5, Rangers have been
given little chance of getting the win, with Centrebet
offering odds of 13/1.
